While the US economy has not (yet) collapsed due to Trump’s complete failure to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, it is destroying the economies of the (former) rich Gulf states that are now begging the Trump administration to bail them out.
Just remember that Dubai was the richest and most modern city in the world before the Iran war, because it was built as a playground for Epstein billionaires. See my previous coverage on this:
Iran destroys Dubai – the center of the billionaire’s paradise and the financial center of the Middle East, created by Epstein
US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant testified at the Capitol today that the US plans to exempt the UAE from closing the Strait of Hormuz, along with other countries in the Persian Gulf and surrounding Asia, due to rising fuel prices. These grants come from the US Treasury.
From Wall Street Journal:
Emirates officials discuss access to dollar with Finance Minister Scott Besant if Middle East conflict continues
Quotes:
The United Arab Emirates has begun talks with the United States on financial support in the event Iran’s war deepens the Persian Gulf crisis in the oil-rich country, US officials said.
According to the authorities, the Governor of the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates, Khalid Mohammed Balama, raised the idea of a currency exchange line during a meeting last week in Washington with Finance Minister Scott Bessent and officials of the Treasury and the Federal Reserve.
The emirates have stressed that they have so far avoided the worst economic consequences of the conflict, but may still need a financial lifeline, officials said.
From New York Times:
Bessent supports the financial support of the oil-rich UAE
Quotes:
US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant said on Wednesday he supports the idea of providing economic aid in the form of currency swaps to the United Arab Emirates, an oil-rich ally struggling with the economic fallout from the war in Iran.
Speaking at the meeting of the Senate, Mr. Besent said that the Emirates along with a number of other countries of the Persian Gulf and Asia have the opportunity to exchange views. He said such a maneuver would prevent a chaotic sale of US assets as countries seek to secure dollar-for-dollar access.
The war in Iran has damaged oil and gas infrastructure across the Middle East, hitting economies like the United Arab Emirates that rely on the Strait of Hormuz to transport crude oil around the world.
The US Treasury Secretary said that offering currency swaps to the Emirates could benefit the United States by stabilizing foreign exchange markets and protecting American assets around the world. He added that it could be provided by the Federal Reserve or the Treasury Department, which could use its Exchange Stability Fund to buy another country’s currency.
“Swap lines, whether from the Federal Reserve or Treasuries, are used to maintain order in the dollar funding markets and prevent disorderly sales of US assets.“said Mr. Besent.
Senator Chris Van Hollen, Democrat of Maryland, questioned the idea of economic support for the Emirates, noting that President Trump and his family have personal financial ties to the nation.
The Trump administration has faced criticism for spending on the Iran conflict, which many see as unnecessary.
“The Iran war has already cost us dearly”, said Mr. Van Hollen.
“In my opinion, this was a huge mistake that made us safer and much worse.”
The Trump administration is also apparently trying to save, if not outright capture, the US airline industry due to the rapid growth of jet fuel.
From NBC News:
Spirit Airlines reached a $500 million bailout deal with the Trump administration
The discount carrier has twice filed for bankruptcy and is now under pressure due to high jet fuel costs due to the Iran war.
Quotes:
The Trump administration on Wednesday moved closer to a bailout deal for struggling Spirit Airlines, in a rare move to support an airline.
The deal, which has not yet been finalized, will offer the airline a $500 million discount, according to a person familiar with the matter. It gives the airline additional liquidity as it works to emerge from bankruptcy and grapples with high fuel costs as a result of the war with Iran.
The purpose of this agreement is also to establish a long-haul airline. After the Spirit came out of bankruptcy, the US government can own up to 90% of an airline– said the source.

Trump deadlocked after ’embarrassment’ of Iran talks
From Al-Jazeera:
We spoke to US foreign policy expert Barbara Slavin about Trump’s announcement to extend the ceasefire with Iran until its “severely fractured” leadership comes up with a unified proposal.
Slavin said that this statement is “a way to cover up the embarrassment that the US is ready to send the vice president to Pakistan, and Iran is not ready to do this.”
Now, Trump finds himself “clearly at a crossroads.”
“This war did not go the way he expected from the beginning, and Iran discovered new levers in controlling the Strait of Hormuz,” Slavin said.
He added that the US should “give up its maximalist demands” and give Iran “some kind of signal that it is serious about seeking a resolution.”
A US civil rights group is suing the White House over mass killings in Lebanon
Please remember that 30% of Lebanon’s population is Christian. It doesn’t matter because ALL human lives are precious and the lives of US citizens living there are protected by US law regardless of their political or religious affiliation.
I hope there will be more such cases.

The Arab American Civil Rights League (ACRL) announced on April 20 that it is preparing a class-action lawsuit against the US government alleging damages to US citizens whose homes and families in Lebanon have been damaged by Israel’s relentless attacks.
“This is not abstract. This is not political rhetoric. This is real. This is a loss,” said Nasser Beydoun, president of the ACRL.
The legal action is expected to target the US State Department, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as well as weapons manufacturers accused of supplying weapons for the attacks.
Organizers said the case is being filed on behalf of US citizens who lost their homes, land and relatives in Lebanon.
ACRL founder Nabih Ayad said US officials deliberately allowed the destruction to occur. “They knew that their weapons were used to destroy the homes of innocent people, not military operations, but they still provided for these people.“, he stated.
Speakers described widespread destruction of family property, particularly in southern Lebanon, where Israeli forces have reduced entire towns and villages to rubble and displaced more than a million people.
Israel continues its relentless attacks on Gaza, killing seven Palestinians in 24 hours
From AntiWar.com:
Gaza’s health ministry said on Tuesday that Israeli forces had killed at least seven Palestinians and wounded 21 others in the past 24 hours as ISIS continued its relentless attacks and repeated violations of a US-backed ceasefire.
Attacks in Gaza over the past day, including overnight bombings in Khan Younis, south of Gaza, killed three Palestinians.
According to the Palestinian news agency WAFA, one of the victims, a man named Darwesh al-Attal, was married just a few days ago. Middle East Eye reported that the attack targeted a police station.
Israeli warships targeted tents in Beit Lahiya, northern Gaza, on Tuesday, killing at least one woman. Al-Jazeera TV channel reported that at least one person was killed as a result of an Israeli attack in the Zeytoun neighborhood of Gaza City, and Israeli drones dropped explosives on tents in the Shujaya area and set the camp on fire.
Also on Tuesday, a child who was wounded in the previous Israeli attack died of his wounds. According to the Al-Jazeera television channel, the child Abdullah Dawos was shot in the head about 10 days ago near Jabalia, in the north of Gaza.
The Gaza Ministry of Health said that since the signing of a ceasefire agreement in early October this year, ISIS has reported killing at least 784 Palestinians in Gaza and wounding 2,214, for a total of about 3,000 Palestinians.
