The series has achieved cult status, albeit without setting the box office on fire, but there’s more to this muscle-bound legend on the big screen, and thankfully, there seems to be an appetite for a Conan return this turn of the millennium.
What happened at the end of Conan the Destroyer? (Spoilers)
Conan the Destroyer followed up conan the barbarian and allowed the main man, along with his companion Malak, to complete the quest to revive Conan’s lost love, Valeria. While this action-packed quest ends with a double cross, Conan is able to finally kill the bad guys and earn himself an offer to be crowned as king and serve at Queen Jenna’s side. Truely rebellious, he turned down the offer, but declared in the final moments of the film that “I’ll have my own kingdom and my own queen.”
What is the plot of “King Conan”?
During the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, OH, the iconic actor (now 78) told fans that the plot for the third installment will present Conan with an amazing new challenge. How will he handle the responsibility of a great state?
“This is a great story,” said Mr. Olympia seven times. Apparently, after sitting on the throne for 40 years, “Conan is reluctant and is now slowly slipping out of the kingdom.” Arnold expanded. “Then, of course, there’s conflict, and then he kind of comes back, and then there’s all kinds of craziness and violence and magic and creatures. Now, of course, you have all the special effects, and the studio system has a lot of money to make those movies really big.”
Who Directs and Produces King Conan?
In addition to Arnold’s triumphant return as Conan, there’s a ton of Hollywood muscle behind it King Conan project. The film is backed by 20th Century Studios, which means a big-budget fantasy-style production is within reach. Writer and director
Christopher McQuarrie is also attached, and he’s had great success directing other big movies like the Mission: Impossible franchise and Top Gun: Maverick.
When is King Conan in theaters?
With filming expected to begin in 2027, critics believe the film will hit theaters in late 2028 or more likely 2029, giving you enough time to revisit the first two films and fall in love with the series all over again.
