Why did I test…
How I Tested…
Over the course of six months, I ordered four items through Amazon Prime for different rooms in my apartment. I specifically looked for products under $200 with easy assembly. I noted each product’s overall quality, ease of installation, and space-saving capabilities.

Amazon Basics Vacuum Storage Bags: These bags have been hilarious in helping me transition my wardrobe from summer to winter without a closet. I was able to shrink my fur coats and puffer jackets down to half their size into two large bags for under bed storage. The hand pump that comes with it worked, but using our homemade vacuum cleaner was much faster. I was able to fit about three or four coats and jackets in each bag, and the bags fit comfortably on top of the other boxes we currently have under the bed. I also love that they are sold as a set because I definitely used more than I expected.
-
SPACELEAD Surface Storage Cart: Not only do we have no closets, our bathroom also lacks good storage options. We got this three-tiered storage cart (in mint green) to fit comfortably under our sink, and it delivered. It’s very compact, but still has the capacity to hold our entire medicine cabinet, including pads and tampons, a first aid kit, hand sanitizer, soap refills, and skin care. Like a dream, it took about four minutes without tools. I also like that it comes with little hooks on the side for hanging towels.
-
HENABLE Acrylic Cabinet Organizer: These mini-cabinet shelves are small, but they make a big impact. I was able to double the amount of glassware I had in one of my cupboards, with tall drinking glasses on top and smaller and smaller bottles underneath. I love clear acrylic because it’s almost invisible. None of my glasses are locked or out of sight in crowded spaces. They took less than a minute to put together and would last for months. They are also incredibly easy to clean.

Elitehouse Single Door Metal Lock: It was part of our investment, but we needed it almost immediately when we moved in. We had to get creative with clever clothing storage, and this tall single-door wardrobe proved to be well worth the price. Inside, there are four spacious shelves that were deep enough to fit piles of my favorite clothes. Since it is metal, we can add magnets and pictures inside for a personal touch. We have uneven floors (this is a pre-war building) so the adjustable feet were a huge plus. It took us a little while to put this together, but the instructions were clear.
Sides…
-
Amazon Basics Vacuum Storage Bags: I’ve found the jumbo size to be great for large winter jackets and coats, but these bags also come in medium, large, and extra sizes. We used to keep these under our bed, but I find them easily tucked under the couch or behind a piece of furniture and overlooked. Hey, sometimes you have to be sneaky.
-
SPACELEAD Surface Storage Cart: At first, the material of the cart gave me pause. It’s obviously plastic and looks almost 3D printed. But the dimensions were perfect for under our sink, so I assembled it anyway. After filling it with objects of various shapes and sizes, I was relieved. The cart stood well, did not tip over, and rolled easily. If anything, the material reduced any rattle when pushed or pulled.
-
HENABLE Acrylic Cabinet Organizer: I love how this sheet has organized my closet, but I wish it was made of a different material. I’ve tried to reduce the amount of plastic in my kitchen, and I haven’t lost sight of the fact that I keep my drink containers in plastic with the open side. I found non-plastic alternative at a slightly higher price that I plan to go for it.
-
Elitehouse Single Door Metal Lock: We love everything about our mint green cabinets, but it’s a little heavy. If possible, get someone to help you with unpacking and assembly.
