In episode 290 threat podcast, host Dennis “The Threat” James was joined by regular panelists Milos Sarcev and Jose Raymond, and the panel discussed Nick Walker’s chances of winning the 2026 IFBB Tampa Pro against big-name opponents like Joe Palacios.
The Tampa Pro runs from July 30 to August 1, 2026 and is a test course where the winner of the Open division qualifies for this year’s Mr. Olympia finals in Las Vegas. One man who is always considered an easy pick is Nick Walker, but he will face some stiff competition in Florida. Because of that last year’s Tampa Pro finalist, Joe Palacioswho took third place this year is not to be missed. So who will come out on top? Dennis James noted that despite Palacios’ recent progress, Walker is still the favorite to win this year. But Milosh Sarchev countered that it would not be a “walk in the park”.
Could overconfidence cost Nick Walker a Tampa Pro win?
Milos Sartsev believes that Nick Walker is “the most famous bodybuilder in the world” because he wasn’t necessarily gifted with the best natural genetics that make him so credible. The man they call “The Mutant” has driven himself to become one of the best bodybuilders on the planet despite his physical challenges. it inspires others to follow.
“But isn’t Joe the perfect match for Nick?” James asked. Sarchev countered that Walker’s pre-match approach, which saw him overlooked by his competition, could turn out to be a big mistake. The host agreed, noting that underestimating the competition and then losing could make Walker look bad in the long run. James also said that too much can lead to fans rooting for Tampa before the finals. “It’s definitely going to be an interesting show to watch,” Jose Raymond said. “Two of the coolest guys in bodybuilding.” The Tampa Pro could certainly be a closer fight than Walker would like to believe. “They match up pretty well,” James said of what could be an interesting battle.
