5 Biggest Biohacking Trends in 2026: Gene Therapy, Personalized Supplements, and the Future of Longevity


There is one big aspect to doing biohacking right. You will have more energy and strength than you know what to do with. But then what? Once diet, sleep, training, and recovery finally fall into place, that mental clarity makes you more curious about what else is out there.

Every year when I attend Dave Asprey’s Biohacking ConferenceI leave with some interesting thoughts. Most things are the same. Familiar faces appear, people walk around sipping buttery coffee in light blue glasses, and popular brands have their own booths. But this year, Asprey’s team intentionally went beyond mainstream biohacking, knowing his audience was ready for something next. Therefore, the name is upgraded to “Beyond Biohacking”.

Here are five trends to watch if you’re ready to take your health optimization to the next level.

Gene therapy for longevity: Why biohackers are paying attention

Millions of dollars are currently being poured into gene therapy and cell programming at the clinical level. But there is a more affordable gene therapy option built around two proteins, clots and follistatin, that don’t mess with your genome. Instead, they force your body to regulate other proteins that it already can.

Klotho and Follistatin: What Do These Proteins Really Do?

Klotho is associated with cognitive function and cellular aging, while follistatin supports muscle growth, and researchers have put this to the test. A 2025 meta-analysis pooling data from eight studies and more than 6,600 subjects found a statistically significant association between Klotho levels and better cognitive function. In addition, research in PNAS determined that an injection of gene therapy is a variant of follistatin muscle size and strength in animal models over two years.

Are these just another peptide? This was my first review as well, but they are not. An injection of the peptide delivers the finished product directly, and once the body has used it, you need to re-inject on a regular schedule, often daily or weekly. Gene therapy bypasses this step. Instead of giving the body an amino acid, it gives the body instructions to make protein and turns the cell into its own little factory. This complaint lasts up to a year after an injection.

According to to Minicircle, the delivery method is a plasmid, small circular DNA molecules that are injected under the skin in a single dose. Although the plasmid enters the cell’s nucleus, it never mixes with its own genome. The cell reads the instructions from the plasmid and starts producing the target protein and releases it into the bloodstream. One injection can support protein production for up to a year, the company says, depending on the individual.

Minicircle may sound unfamiliar, but if you’ve seen Brian Johnson Netflix Documentary Don’t Die: The Man Who Wants to Live Forever you’ve already heard about it. This is the company that the technological entrepreneur visits for the screening of plasmid genes using follistatin.

However, it is fair to question both efficacy and safety. Human research on these treatments is still limited, and most of what is known comes from animal studies and a small, self-selected pool of early adopters like Asprey, rather than large clinical trials.

Asprey says he is confident in the early results. Even his 19-year-old daughter asked to try Klotho, making him one of the youngest people to do so, according to his account.

“The big question is what is the potential benefit and what is the potential risk,” Asprey said Muscles and fitness. “And the risk seems to be remarkably low because they’re eliminated from the body over time. And the upside is very high. They’re being studied. There are trials. So I have enough confidence in them that I’ve done them, and so has my daughter.”

A Phase 1 trial Minicircle sponsorship is currently being recruited to test this combination in humans. The trial listing itself notes that the injections will be administered at a location outside the US, outside the FDA’s jurisdiction, and that only the pre-treatment and post-treatment evaluations will take place in the state.

Personalized supplements based on your DNA

Some biohackers still carry around over a hundred supplements in their pockets, and others have most of what their bodies need in a few pills a day. The latter group goes a layer deeper than their blood panel and adds based on what they may be “deficient”.

Genetic testing can reveal specific pathways and variants that affect how you metabolize different nutrients, process caffeine, or absorb vitamin D, so you can use your genetic code to dictate what’s in your daily supplement stack. Companies in this space are putting together personalized formulas around these outcomes, rather than what the average person needs.

Dr. Bryce Wilde, geneticist and leading genomics instructor at The Health Trifectasaid Muscles and Fitness, that most supplements, especially multivitamins, are formulated based on population averages. However, when it comes to demographics like biohackers who really care about accuracy, they don’t want to get the results they want. “Your genome is the only place where a truly personalized health strategy begins,” he said.

I’ve talked to a few people who have spent a lot of time and money trying to have energy, clarity, and insight, but none of them will carry much weight if they don’t do something with it, share what they’ve learned, and show others that someone once showed up for them.

Jay Shetty’s keynote speech brought just that into focus in front of a room of thousands. The goal, he said, should not look like anything special. “It doesn’t have to be a person. It doesn’t have to make you famous. It doesn’t have to make you money. It doesn’t have to be big,” he said on stage, noting that it’s your gift to make others a little happier just for crossing paths.

And many biohackers learn to discover them in the room.

The rise of Neurofeedback and advanced Mindfulness technology

Most people will still find some of the technology of thought and consciousness out there, and that reaction is fair. Even biohackers usually come to this part of the journey after their physical health is reached. Thinking, it is time to understand the deeper layers of the mind.
