Washington State Study Proves NOT Placing Children in Foster Care Saves Lives!

When we first started ourselves Medical Kidnapping Website In 2014, some of the most terrifying stories of children from Washington state came from their parents.

Before Facebook and Google started their algorithms to prevent our medical abduction stories from spreading, we put a lot of pressure on the government to get people to call and email government officials, and every story we covered was a “high profile” case, often even covered by local corporate media sources.

Such was the case in 2014 when we covered the story of the Rengo family from Bellingham, Washington. Even through the day before Thanksgiving, when we posted this story, it hit over 1 million views in 48 hours. See:

The mother in this story gave birth to twins at home, and the grandmother was allegedly not too happy that they didn’t take the babies to the hospital and an ambulance was sent to check on them, prompting them to report the parents to Child Protective Services, even though they found no medical problems with the twins.

We were able to send over 6000 calls to the provincial government and in the first trial they returned the babies to their parents, which was unheard of in those days.

But that didn’t last long, and eventually the state came back and seized all three of their children, completely destroying the family.

And that wasn’t the only horror story we published from Washington state.

Well, today, almost 12 years later, Washington State may now be taking the lead in correcting many of the abuses in its child welfare system, realizing what we and others have been publishing for years, namely that children who stay at home, even in “troubled homes,” do much better than children placed in the foster care system.

How many times have you heard it? A child “known to the system” dies and someone says: “See?

We knew all along that this was not true. And now, thanks to new researchwe know something else: Washington state’s limited efforts to stop the breakup of so many families have saved the lives of so many children—anywhere from six to 22 a year. At the same time, the state saves 10 to 30 children a year by increasing the share of foster children who are handed over to relatives instead of strangers.

Some of these gains are due to the Keeping Families Together Act, and new research should end the smear campaign against the law once and for all. But the reduction in useless removals preceded this law. This is what independent researchers from Seattle area band Pale Blue were able to measure long-term trends. Their research is based on research and other data.

Here’s how we know preventing unnecessary family removals doesn’t threaten children’s safety:

Although the only acceptable goal for child abuse deaths is zero, such deaths have occurred in Washington and every other state for decades.
As KUOW noted earlier this year: The year that the most children died on the (Child Protective Services) radar in Washington was 2012, long before the Keeping Families Together Act was passed. Back then, caseworkers took nearly twice as many children from their families as today.

You cannot make a firm conclusion from any country. You need a nationwide study that examines millions of records and tens of thousands of deaths.

fortunately, There is such a study. It found that reducing entry into foster care did nothing to increase violent child deaths, and that taking more children did nothing to reduce such deaths.

It doesn’t show that having fewer babies saves lives. But it does: A vast body of scientific literature from around the world compares the outcomes of children left in their homes with comparably abused children placed in foster care in typical situations—situations far more common than horror stories; situations that often include they confuse poverty with neglect. Studies show that foster children tend to fare worse on a range of outcomes, including premature death.

There are various reasons for this. In some cases, it is high rates of abuse in foster care. But it also exists great elimination pressure.

So it is not surprising that, for example, Swedish studies A comparison of children in foster care with children neglected in their own homes showed that children in foster care were four times more likely to die before age 20, and the most common cause of death was suicide.

There is now enough data to show how many lives could be saved and how much serious illness and disability could be prevented by reducing the burden of nursing care, as Washington has done. And since kinship foster care is by far the least harmful form of foster care, it is possible to calculate lives saved and disability by increasing the proportion of foster children placed with relatives, as Washington has done.

So the next time you hear someone denying a massive injury to a child from everyone they know and love by saying it is “preferable and safer than dying”, consider that some of those children die prematurely because they were taken unnecessarily. T

This is true even when children are at home with average or worse services than they currently receive. Ideally, we cover families with everything they need. But waiting until that happens to stop separating children will only put those children at greater risk.
