Enter the AASM 2026 High School Video Contest

The American Academy of Sleep Medicine is excited to get started 2026 AASM “Sleep for Success” High School Video Contest. This annual event challenges young people to get creative, share their voices and help others understand why sleep is important. It’s a fun way to learn, inspire and compete for prizes, all while spreading an important message about healthy sleep.

Students can enter by creating an original 30- to 90-second video that helps teens understand the importance of making sleep a priority. Applications may be submitted in one of the following categories:

  • Short Film / Original Story: A fictional animated short with original characters, stories and a creative plot focused on healthy sleep.
  • Music / Parody: A fun song or a playful rendition of a popular movie, TV series or viral moment with a healthy spin on sleep.
  • Animation / Anime: An animated piece that uses art and movement to show why sleep is important.

Regardless of the style, the goal is the same: show why sleep is important for teenagers and how it shapes everyday life. Videos can be funny, heartfelt, creative or educational; style is up to the creator.

Participating in the competition gives young people the opportunity to improve their media skills, explore storytelling and make a real impact. Winning videos will be screened by AASM, providing students with a platform to share their message with a wider audience.

Sleep plays a key role in concentration, learning, mood, creativity, athletic performance and road safety. When teens get the sleep they need, they think more clearly, feel better, and have more energy—making healthy sleep an important topic to focus on.
