The American Society for Nutrition (ASNF) announces the appointment of three new members to its Board of Trustees


Distinguished leaders provide a global perspective and deep scientific expertise to advance nutrition research, education and practice.

Rockville, MD (January 27, 2026) – ASN Foundation announced today the appointment of three outstanding leaders to it Board of Trustees: Arne Astrup, MD, DMSc; Kathryn Field, PhD; and Ratna Mukerjea, Ph.D. Their collective experience in research, academia and innovation will strengthen the Foundation’s work to advance food science and support the next generation of researchers.

Admission to the Board is as follows:

  • Arne Astrup, MD, DMSc, independent consultant and professor at the University of Copenhageninternationally recognized for his fundamental research and scientific interests in appetite regulation, treatment of obesity, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
  • Kathryn Field, PhD, FCAHS, FCNS-SC, is a professor emeritus at the University of Albertaleading international research examining the relationship between nutrition and the immune system.
  • Ratna Mukherjea, PhD, Global Head of R&D for ICL Food Specialtiesrecognized for advancing nutrition and nutrition innovation at the intersection of evidence-based product development and nutrition.

“These exceptional leaders bring invaluable insight and extensive experience,” said Paul M. Coates, PhD, DFASN, Chair of the ASN Foundation Board of Trustees. “Their leadership will help ensure the Foundation continues to make smart investments in research, education and programs that significantly improve human health.”

The ASN Foundation’s Board of Trustees oversees the strategic priorities and management of donor investments, promoting research, scholarships, fellowships, academic awards, and initiatives that empower food scientists at all career stages.
