Cellbricks Therapeutics has raised €10 million in new funding, consisting of a €7 million seed round and more than €3 million in non-public funding under negotiation, enabling biofabricated human tissue implants to progress towards clinical trials.
The funding is intended to advance the company’s leading adipose tissue implant program, initiate up to three pre-clinical animal studies and generate translational data for the treatment of complex soft tissue defects, wound healing and trauma care, including biologic alternatives to synthetic implants used in reconstructive procedures such as breast reconstruction.
The round was led by Silicon Roundabout Ventures with the participation of the German Federal Agency for Innovation SPRIND, ACT Venture Partners and existing investors.
The company claims its proprietary biofabrication platform can produce human vascular tissue implants, and says the new investment will accelerate preclinical approval, strengthen translational evidence, and help build the biological and manufacturing foundations for long-term goals such as viable human organs in 3D bioprinting.
