In episode 279 threat podcast, Joining host Dennis James, regular wrestlers Milos Sarsev and Jose Raymond, the panel was greeted by a special guest in the form of 2019 Olympian Brandon Curry, who at 43 is still a top contender. On the show, Curry told The Menace about his plans for Las Vegas in 2026 and why age doesn’t matter.
“The Prodigy” took fifth place at the Arnold USA and moved up to second place at the British Arnold in March, proving he is still a threat to those years younger. “What’s your personal goal for this year’s Olympics,” James asked during the show. “My goal is simple,” replied the determined bodybuilder from Nashville, Tennessee. “I just want to be able to shake things up, you know what I’m saying? I want to cause some confusion and make everybody question what’s going on.”
How Curry Stays Elite Into His 40s
During the episode, Curry explained that his success has always been based on focusing on what needs to be done, rather than predicting what position he might be in. This often creates a situation where judges and industry observers overlook the package he brings to the stage on the night. “So that’s telling me that I put in the work and made the necessary changes and I brought something to the stage that the judges at the moment don’t know what to do with (in). That’s a compliment.”
Is Brandon Curry still a threat at 43?
When asked about the hiatus between the recent Arnold and Olympia tournaments, Curry showed no signs of slowing down anytime soon. “I want to take a break, but maybe not,” he said. “We’ll see how these next couple of weeks go with the tour. If I get busy and do everything I’m supposed to do, you might see me (on stage) again.” Pressed by The Menace on whether he could step on the boards before the Olympics in September, Curry kept his options open. “You can, you can,” he said.
Dennis James also wanted to dive into the issue of age. “You know you’re old, but 43 isn’t even old anymore,” said The Menace, noting that Dexter Jackson just turned 50. Indeed, Jackson was 51 when he retired after the 2020 Mr. Olympics. “I enjoy the process,” Curry said of his longevity.
Prodigy has been competing for over 20 years and has won many awards including the 2019 Olympia Cup and two Arnold Classic titles in 2019 and 2022. If I can do it.”
