Home exercise is possible for lymphoma survivors entering cardio-oncology rehabilitation

FRIDAY, June 26, 2026 (HealthDay News) — Home-based exercise (HBE) produces comparable short-term improvements among lymphoma survivors enrolled in cardio-oncology rehabilitation (CORE), according to a study published online June 23, 2026.Cancer control.

Katerina Chamradova, from the University Hospital of Brno in the Czech Republic, and colleagues compared the short-term effects of 12 weeks of HBE with core-based exercise (CBE) among 69 lymphoma survivors randomly assigned to CORE.

The researchers found that maximal oxygen uptake improved in both groups, and at week 12 there were no significant differences between the groups adjusted for baseline. There were also no differences between groups for maximal exercise or physical activity on the Short Form-36. Both groups had high adherence (HBE: 80.1 percent; CBE: 77.9 percent). No adverse events were reported. Costs per participant were 48 percent lower for HBE.

“Telemedicine-guided HBE is a pragmatic and less expensive option to expand access to CORE,” the authors wrote. “Larger, longer-term studies are warranted to determine which patients benefit most from each delivery model and to confirm long-term clinical and economic outcomes.”
