The novel follows award-winning screenwriter Verity Hill and composer Wright “Monk” Bellamy, who meet at a Georgia HBCU, fall head over heels, and then tragically break up. More than a decade later, they’re reuniting to work on a biopic about the legendary Harlem Renaissance jazz legend — and while Oscar’s voice is palpable, the chemistry between Verity and Monk is even harder to ignore.
