New research on hope and mindfulness by Feldman, Shapiro, and Dreher (2026) sheds new light on additional links between two behaviors consistently associated with psychological well-being.
These findings suggest that mindfulness and hope are both related to aspects of psychological well-being. Although their contributions differ, they also complement each other (Feldman, Shapiro, & Dreher, 2026). Based on these findings, researchers the concept the hope of remembering: “We conceptualize the hope of remembering as a balanced mental state in which present-oriented awareness supports creative, future-oriented thinking.
Grounded hope in thinking calls for awareness of the present moment and can offer a stabilizing and empowering foundation as we learn hope through ways and planning, developing agency, and striving for future actions and new possibilities (Feldman & Kravitz, 2014; Snyder, 2002).
Sobriety helps us know how to pay attention. When we focus with compassion, one moment at a time, we increase our ability to navigate the turmoil in our lives in more grounded and aware ways. stabilityand well-being (Burns-Zare, 2025; Neff, 2011; Shapiro et al., 2020).
According to Snyder (2000; 2002), the implementation hope framework consists of three stages: (1) the desired goal, (2) ways or strategies to achieve the goal, and (3) agency or agency or motivation in pursuit of the goal.
Often, we are distracted by many worries. Creating memorable experiences can allow us to strengthen our abilities present moment awareness with compassionate kindness. This process of attention can occur even in brief moments during the day when we are engaged in our daily activities (Burns-Zare, 2025). Examples include pausing for a memorable moment when you wake up in the morning, taking your first sip of food, or looking out your window.
Cautious hope can help us recognize the difficult situation we are dealing with and then choose a goal that is important to us moving forward toward our goal (Diane Dreher, personal communication, May 24, 2026). The important thing is that carefully acknowledging our emotions can free us from feeling helpless and trapped by problems that are beyond our control. Then we can reach a more balanced state that allows us to move toward new goals and opportunities.
Getting in touch with where we are now can empower us to think more about where we want to be and set reasonable goals to get there. Mindful hope based on mindful presence on a consistent basis can empower us to greater well-being and positive presence.
How can you add memorable hope to your toolbox for prosperity?
