Ben Rothwell has worked with Jason Statham and The Citadel’s male star Richard Madden and he says they are at the top of their game, but when it comes to women, the expert says he’s seen their dominance often outweigh men. “He was brilliant,” explains Rothwell. “We did another film with Priyanka. heads of state, and she used a lot of guns in that one, too.” Rothwell probably has reason to praise girls. “We tend to think women are actually better, partly because they listen, forgive everybody,” she jokes. “You give a guy a gun and they turn into a kid really quickly.”
A wild grenade scene that almost went too far
Fortunately, Chopra has undergone intense training, is as fit as can be, and has often shared the process with her 92.9 million Instagram followers. But not only this female leader proved a point. Rothwell says one of her favorite scenes involves another female character, no spoilers about who’s doing the grenade-throwing duty.
When building the fake grenade launcher, Rothwell says it got bigger and heavier as they tried to get to the final design. “Whatever we offered, it didn’t seem to matter how big or crazy we were,” they loved it, remembers the gun supporter getting the ultimate sign. “So we kept adding more weapons to this poor girl,” he continues. “In fact at one point he had an assault rifle, a grenade launcher, a pistol, two knives and throwing stars.” Thankfully, after the crew finally loaded up on the strong woman, the items were gradually removed before the cameras rolled. “It’s a really cool action sequence,” he says.
