MindWise Innovations is proud to announce the development of the innovation SOS for Higher Ed: Suicide Prevention for Faculty and Staff: a 30-minute suicide-guided training designed to prepare university faculty and staff to respond to symptoms of anxiety in students. Designed to complement an award-winning course SOS for Higher Ed: Suicide Prevention for Studentsthis staff-oriented training brings suicide prevention education to professors, counselors, administrators, coaches, and other staff who interact with college students on a daily basis.

SOS for Higher Ed: Suicide Prevention for Faculty and Staff tells the stories of struggling college students and college staff who have first-hand experience supporting students at risk of suicide. With the focus on student mental health in recent years, your faculty and staff may be asking how they can better support students—interactive learning is the answer. Hands-on scenarios provide opportunities to recognize the signs of suicide, engage in caring conversations, and connect students with resources. Like student versionto Faculty and staff Training is delivered as a 30-minute asynchronous course or alternatively as an in-person workshop using group facilitator guidance.

“We hear over and over again from college counseling centers and university administrators the demand for training,” says the director of MindWise’s suicide education program. Megan Dimon. “I’m excited to be able to provide more resources for suicide prevention education SOS for the excellent publication – the combined use of these programs will increase the visibility of all suicide prevention efforts in urban areas.

SOS for Higher Ed: Suicide Prevention for Faculty and Staff sold with a student version to provide a complete set of suicide prevention training for college and university campuses. The course will be available beginning in the fall semester of 2024. No additional administration required – your designee automatically receives weekly usage reports that can be easily reconciled with employment records.
