Because I have a minor heart condition, I’m always thinking about how I can be cool so that my heart rate doesn’t go too high. When summer rolls around, I focus on finding lightweight pieces that keep my temperature moderate. I know a garment has passed the test when I can wear it all day and comfortably spend hours outside. Here are 15 cheap ones under $115 that do just that.

Skimm’s best-selling hats every summer buy…

This wide hat from Solbari is useless. It has a slot for your tail, an elasticated hem, and in addition to adding extra shade, it’s UPF 50+. If you get sunburned no matter how much sunscreen you put on, don’t forget to add this hat to your bag. It is also collapsible and collapsible.

The original workout outfit…

Since relaunching Outdoor Voices, I’ve been wanting to remind everyone I know about this practical option. Although this is a sporty style, you can pull it off with ballet flats or closed-toe shoes to dress it up. I love that it has built-in shorts (with knots so they don’t ride up), adjustable straps, and roomy pockets. It’s ideal for light exercise, so I love it for running errands or walking around town.

A top you can wear to work…

Dressing for the office can be difficult this time of year. I was pleasantly surprised when I found this option from Halara. It’s made from Breezeful brand fabric that’s quick-drying, moisture-wicking, and has four-way stretch. It is very light and the key hole on the back acts as additional ventilation. I love the shape of this top; it feels really put together (even though the fabric is made of sports material).

Running shorts that feel like you’re wearing nothing…

Our team swears by the FP Carpe Diem Action Shorts so thoroughly that we put them to use. Good reward for you. They have underwear on the inside so you don’t have to worry about any packing and the high rise waistband is comfortable and stays in place. We also appreciate the quick-dry, water-resistant fabric, perfect for a sweaty afternoon. Wear them for your next workout or pair them with a tank or t-shirt for a casual look.

A Cropped Top I Can’t Summer Without…

This one from Beyond Yoga is an investment, but it’s perfect for when you can’t be bothered, need to leave the house, and want to stay cool. The material is soft, stretchy and easily absorbs sweat. It has a built-in hood, so I prefer to wear this top for errands or light-to-moderate intensity workouts. It goes without saying that the material of the oil is soft.

A special sleeping jacket for those who warm…

If you’re a warm sleeper all year round, summer is the time to be alive. Soma’s Cool Nights line has sold over 20 million pajamas, which is saying something. Cool Nights fabrics are made from rayon fibers that stay cool to the touch and won’t cling to your body. I personally go for a padded nightgown to stay cool.

Linen Pants I Can’t Stop Talking About…

I have said it before and I will say it again: This is a European summer linen quince. If you are looking for an affordable way to save linen, I highly recommend it this collection (along with Uniqlo). These pants are my favorite because they are classic pants with an elastic waistband. The last thing I want to deal with is a zippered fly when it’s hot. These also come in tons of colors.

The only t-shirt we want to wear when it’s 85 degrees…

Our senior business writer and I both love this t-shirt. Although it is expensive, it washes well and gets softer over time. Pima cotton is thin and airy, and it is suffocating on sticky and humid days. We both find the shape to be the perfect level of baggy yet stylish.

A pair of loose fitting shorts…

As mentioned before, I also swear by Uniqlo for cheap summer basics, especially linen. This pair of shorts is the best mid-length style I’ve come across recently. It has a drawstring waist and since they are wide, they don’t bulge uncomfortable torture. In my opinion, the price is irreversible.

A tank top that doesn’t require a bra…

Another detail I look for in sweat-friendly items: a braless design. This racerback tank top is made from ribbed cotton and features a built-in bra with cups. The last thing I want to wear when it’s 90 degrees is a restrictive bra, and this designed option doesn’t look sporty at all (although it does feel like a sports bra).

You can wear tennis shorts anywhere…

These sporty skorts from Addison Bay are so cute that you can wear them even when you’re not working out. They come in 19 different colors and have built-in pockets that fit phones or tennis balls. They are made of sweat-wicking material and I wear them with a t-shirt and Buck Mason sneakers.

A linen blend dress that is not a t-shirt…

Since my natural inclination is toward t-shirts, I’m always on the lookout for heat-friendly tops that aren’t t-shirts. This is another cute option from Uniqlo. It’s an open sleeve short that you can wear on its own with shorts or over a bathing suit.

A pair of printed shorts that are worth the…

Rag & bone now makes a cropped version of their iconic Miramar jeans. They’re basically pant shorts printed to look like jeans, so you don’t have to worry about clothes around. They even have side pockets that are functional.

A double layered dress that comes in tons of color…

Don’t forget about the Abercrombie & Fitch sports line. This workout outfit has a double-layer design that reminds me of the early 2000s, with built-in shorts underneath. This is one of those workout clothes that doesn’t look like a workout outfit, so I’m looking at just about every color option (but I’m especially into the hot pink and brown version).

A dress that allows you to skip underwear altogether…

This linen dress features spaghetti straps, built-in shorts and a padded bra. All you have to do is throw it on and you have a nice one-layer outfit that will keep you cool. It comes in eight prints, but Abercrombie always rotates in new prints. This is one of the best options to bring on an upcoming vacation because of how versatile it is.
