TUESDAY, March 24, 2026 (Health Day News) — TrumpRxThe President’s Prescription Drug Discount Program is adding three more products to its site as it continues efforts to lower drug prices.
There are two new additions to the drugs type 2 diabetes, Jenda duet and Jenda duet XRand one for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), Striverdi Respimat.
All three are made by German drugmaker Boehringer Ingelheim, and officials say the price cuts are steep.
In diabetes drugs that normally cost about $525 are listed on TrumpRx starting at $55. According to the White House, a COPD inhaler will drop from about $276 to $35.
“These are very significant discounts” Ben Linksaid a contributor to 46brooklyn, a nonprofit group that tracks drug prices NBC News.
However, Link noted that one of the drugs, Gentadueto, already has a cheaper generic version. At the pharmacy, patients now pay about $25 to $35 for this option.
However, he said TrumpRx’s price is “competitive.”
The TrumpRx website launched in January as part of a broader presidential campaign Donald Trump to reduce drug costs.
Experts say that this program is limited.
Discounts only for people paying in cash. They cannot be used with insurance and do not count toward deductibles.
“The goal wasn’t really to reach wide.” Chris Klompa senior US Health and Human Services official said at an event last week.
He said the program was not designed as a complete solution to high drug prices.
So far, TrumpRx lists fewer than 60 drugs, mostly brand-name drugs. Many already have cheaper generic versions.
Similar discounts can be found on other sites as well. It’s also unclear how much the app is actually being used.
A recent study by KFF found that nearly 1 in 3 people who take prescription drugs have heard of TrumpRx. But only 7% said they visited the site to check prices.
Among people taking GLP-1 pills, about 16% said they had checked it.
NBC News said the White House did not say how many people have used the website since it was launched.
Even with insurance, many Americans still struggle to afford prescription drugs.
A recent survey from West Health-Gallup found that nearly one-third of adults have shared in the past year to pay for health care services, including skipping or reducing medications.
