The UFC has announced that the leading mixed martial arts organization will continue its partnership with the Hospital for Special Surgery, extending their partnership to a new multi-year agreement.
What is a Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS)?
Founded in 1863, HSS has become one of the world’s leading centers dedicated to musculoskeletal health. In 2017, The group was named as the first official hospital partner of the UFCand has maintained its goal of helping athletes recover from injury and contributing longevity to the careers of UFC fighters. “HSS has been a trusted partner for nearly a decade,” said Dr. Duncan French, senior vice president of the UFC Performance Institute. “Their expertise has been instrumental in providing the UFC with advanced services for injury prevention, treatment and rehabilitation for athletes competing in the Octagon. Together, we will continue to ensure UFC athletes have access to the highest level of medical care and combat sports support.”
How the UFC Performance Institute supports athlete recovery
HSS says the renewed partnership builds on UFC’s proven track record of supporting athletes in improving performance and recovery. As part of the expanded agreement, HSS will continue its significant presence at the UFC Performance Institute, including an enhanced role at the Mexico City facility, reflecting a significant expansion of HSS’s international footprint. HSS will also integrate into the state-of-the-art HSS Sports Rehabilitation Center within the UFC’s flagship Performance Institute, headquartered in Las Vegas.
Why is the UFC-HSS partnership important to fighters?

The UFC and HSS will also collaborate on a series of custom content featuring UFC athletes and HSS physicians, a move they say underscores a shared commitment to athlete excellence and long-term health. The upcoming series is set to expand across the UFC’s massive digital platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X and YouTube, potentially reaching more than 353 million social media followers worldwide.
In addition to serving as the UFC’s official hospital, HSS also provides the highest level of professional carecollegiate and fan athletes and organizations, including the New York Giants, New York Rangers, New York Knicks, New York Liberty, New York Mets and Brooklyn Nets and is recognized by FIFA as one of only 3 FIFA Medical Centers in the United States.
