But when you’re busy balancing a Hall of Fame career with a growing TV presence, time flies. Fortunately, M&F were able to slow The Miz down enough to catch up to the 45-year-old fighter, and we soon learned how he relies on longevity and how he stays in peak shape while juggling WWE and American Gladiators.

While The Miz currently has his hands full with Danhausen there’s one reward in WWE that can’t be taken away from his illustrious in-ring career. The Miz is the only pro wrestler to defend a world title against John Cena at WrestleMania, and with “You Can’t See My Star” now retired, the feat will never be repeated. However, Miz has a lot of work to do in terms of hanging up his boots.

“When I was growing up, I learned from the best,” he told M&F. “The best of the best; John Cenas, Randy Ortons. I was trained by Triple H and Shawn Michaels. Now Cena is retired, Shawn Michaels is retired, Triple H is no longer wrestling, so I really want to show the newer wrestlers what I learned from them.”

How The Miz Stays In Shape At 45 While Fighting Full Time

“I don’t like to work out,” admits The Miz. “A lot of people say they’re always in the gym, but I remember the best things I can do. So I’m always a big person to find the tools you use that allow you to be the best version of yourself.” Take this interview for example, The Miz made a Zoom call after checking into the hotel, and when we’re done, he’s going to go straight to his next commitment, shooting. American Gladiators. For busy people, the efficiency of balancing calories versus calories is more important than spending hours next to a barbell.

When he’s locked in, The Miz explains that his diet consists of about 2,600 calories. Weighing in at around 221 pounds, he opts for one gram of protein per pound of body weight. And, for cardio, the talented grappler likes to hit the incline for 30 to 40 minutes. This is a smart move as most hotel gyms have one.

Why Miz Uses Floss Bands Before Leg Exercises

“It’s basically a rubber band and you wrap it tightly around your leg and then stretch it,” explains the former WWE Champion. For the uninitiated, Floss bands compress muscles and joints and are believed to increase the body’s range of motion while increasing performance.

“I burn in them,” shares The Miz, “And it gets my legs ready to go. I wear them before and after workouts, and I’ve found that’s helped a lot with recovery, too.”

A recovery routine is keeping Miz healthy in WWE

The Miz is still known as one of the most consistent performers in WWE because he rarely misses time due to injury. “I always recommend a cold soak, you’re going to need it, and maybe hit the sauna right after,” he advises aspiring wrestlers who want to be as fit as he is. The table tells M&F She likes to go back and forth between cold plunges and saunas because each has its benefits.

When you get a cold rollthe heart pumps blood more efficiently to maintain body temperature while endorphins are released, which act like natural pain relievers. Jumping into the sauna then opens up the blood vessels and increases flow to the affected areas. In addition, when you sweat, toxins are released from the body and muscles are more relaxed. “This is the biggest recovery tool I’ve ever used as a WWE Superstar,” said the charismatic talent.
